The Bergs trace their roots to Valdres, Hallingdal, and Sogn on Barbara’s side and to the Lom-Skjaak area of Gudbrandsdal and Bod_ (with one grandfather having come to Norway from Lulea, Sweden) on Donald's side. The Bergs have visited Norway and Sweden on several occasions and look forward to returning again.
In 1994 the Bergs sold the house they had been purchasing from Barbara’s parents in Minowa Heights and purchased a house previously owned by Phil and Marian Johson at 407 Leif Erikson Drive, just one block from the Luther College campus. They will move to Decorah upon retirement but have a basement apartment in the house while they rent out the main part of the house to Dan and Natalie Grossman (Natalie is Luren’s accompanist at present.)
